In this age of technology where many industries are seeing an increase in the integration of robotic/ mechatronic systems into everyday tasks, the window washing industry has remained stagnant. This field would benefit greatly from automation since workers are required to clean windows on building that are dozens of stories high. This hazardous environment has many risks such as potentially falling or other on site injuries that occur at large heights. In Fact, in 2016, 14 building cleaning professionals were killed from falls to lower levels in the United States according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In order to remedy this problem we propose to design and build an automated window washing robot.
